Malta is an ideal location for bunkering because of the competitive price and facilities for bunkers.  

Bunkering operations can be undertaken in port even when vessel is under cargo operation, as well as outside harbour.  There are four different bunkering zones, namely: 

Transhipment Facilities:

Malta caters for transhipment of containers, general cargo, project cargo and liquid products.  On average Malta handles over 3 million teus per year. Apart from the facilities on land, Malta offers also facilities for offshore ship to ship operations.
